Paypal Planning a Daily Deal Service – Can Affiliates Marketers Benefit?

Paypal (the eBay owned payment gateway) has just announced that it is planning to launch a service to rival Groupon and Livingsocial in the daily deals market.

If you’re not already aware, daily deals sites (or coupon sites) offer products and services at a steep discount, really good for consumers, and whilst the businesses involved may have to take a loss to begin with it can result in repeat custom.

From an affiliate point of view this could easily open up a potential new area to work in. Whilst it will no doubt be similar to existing deals with Groupon (up to a 15% cut), Paypal is stating that their service will be different and more focused, but there is no details on what this will entail just yet.

No word yet on whether an affiliate scheme will become available but it would be an obvious thing for them to do especially with them using the power of affiliates on eBay.

Paypal is aiming to launch the service in the USA before April 2012, no word yet on if or when a UK launch will happen.
